If I had only known.......

There seems to be more and more times that I will stop while out pickin' and think "I've seen this before" or "Why do I not have one of these already?" I have been "Antiquing", as we call it in our family, since before I could hold a bottle! With grandparents that were dealers, it kinda ran in the bloodline! But I loved it from the start! When I was a girl, I remember having a love of Peacock feathers, Pill Box Hats and old jewelry, preferably RHINESTONES!!! Oh how I loved to collect these precious treasures. It could be a Bracelet, Ear-Bobs- as my sweet Grandad calls them, or a fabulous Broach. As I grew older I forgot about the jewelry and moved into items that I could decorate my first apartment in. My husband and I have known each other since I was 14, and started dating when I was 18. One of our favorite things to do was "Antiquing"... I know, CRAZY!! But that's us! I remember one of the items on my "list" was an old Daisy Churn, you know the ones.
Anyways, at the time $30-$50 was blowing my budget. I just could not commit to it, so moved on. Oh, If I had only known and had picked one up then as now they are upwards to $400! Same for my new craze... Antique Silver Hotel Food Domes.
They are the loveliest! Another item that we would see, back in the late 80's early 90's that were just overlooked by most as Tarnished and "Who would want to polish that?".
UH... ME!!!!! Except I love the tarnished patina. To me, it tells a story of a piece. You can only imagine where all it has journeyed to now be sitting in your hands. So now, I am on a hunt for a dome. And kicking myself for all the times I passed one up that cost near to nothing!
But that's how it goes. Our lives, our taste, our wants and needs change. But to me, it just makes it even more the fun when you are long searching and there it is... you find that fabulous beauty! xoxo

Mirror Mirror on the Wall.....

We had a fabulous weekend out at the Fleas and at some of our most favorite spots to stop and do some good pickin'. It has been very hot here with temps in the 100's ( when I say 100, lets just be honest, it's been anywhere from 104-108 for several days straight with No relief in sight! ) So after tackling the EXTREME  heat, today I am taking a breather and staying in the AC as much as one possibly can! We will be adding lots of Ironstone and Old tarnished Silver this week but today they are getting a nice "bath" and preping for photos and will be adding lots of new goodies to the shop this week. In the meantime, I took some time on Pinterest, which I do several times a day... lets just be honest AGAIN... Pinterest for me is like falling down a huge rabbit hole. I love it but I at times can not walk away! I have a love for a old mirrors. Especially ones that are very old and silvered.
The worse their condition is actually the ones I am most fond of. I love to layer them, maybe because I have too many..ummm ;)

So here is some GORGEOUS eye candy!

Enjoy!

This little light....

We will be out pickin' today and tomorrow so I'm leaving you some gorgeous eye candy as we begin what is sure to be a

So much sorrow filled this week....my heart is still saddened from all that has come out of the circumstances involved in RW death. We are a home of love and laughter and as many our own share of trials and depression.
His beautiful light shined in our homes and lives for what now feels like such a brief stay....tho it will never burn out.

My obsession with CLOCHES

I have probably 10....maybe 12. They are not ALL out but many are. Yes, I suffer from a CLOCHE obsession. My preference is glass...tho I am not prejudice to metal or other forms. I love them at holidays, Christmas especially! Filling with my vintage collections of Shiny     Bright glass balls...another obsession. I'm sure I'm not alone. In fact I am positive there are others out there. I know because I have often gone back to purchase the most amazing one only to be disappointed in the learning that someone else scooped it up! Lol!
Here are a few of my favs and some I admire!

Inspired by Lavender

When I was younger, as most girls I assume, PURPLE was one of my favorite colors... next to PINK of course! It was also my High School main Color. As an adult,  I just love the soft subtle hues of Lavender. The pure clean smell of its fragrance. How it looks dried hanging. Love how the tall stems look in an old galvanized bucket. Or the soft hues on pretty packages ready to give away. It is what is inspiring me today.
